Becoming a GAPP Provider

Becoming a GAPP Provider

What Is the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP)?

The Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) supports medically fragile children under the age of 21 by providing skilled nursing and personal care services in the home. Services covered under GAPP include wound care, IV therapy, injections, vital sign monitoring, feeding assistance, bathing, dressing, hygiene, and light housekeeping.

GAPP is a Medicaid-funded program administered through the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH). For home care agencies, becoming a GAPP provider opens the door to serving a high-need population while expanding your service offerings and revenue.

Who Can Become a GAPP Provider?

Licensed nursing agencies and home care agencies in Georgia are eligible to apply for GAPP provider status. Each agency location must obtain its own provider number — you cannot operate multiple locations under a single enrollment.

Before applying, ensure your agency meets the following baseline requirements:

  • Active Georgia business license
  • Valid home health or nursing agency license
  • Appropriate liability insurance coverage
  • Qualified nursing and personal care staff
  • Compliance with Georgia Medicaid provider standards

How to Apply

The application process for becoming a GAPP provider goes through the Georgia Medicaid Management Information System (GAMMIS). Here are the key steps:

  1. Review the provider requirements outlined in the GAPP section of the Georgia Medicaid provider manual.
  2. Gather your documentation including your agency license, NPI number, tax ID, insurance certificates, and staff credentials.
  3. Submit your application through GAMMIS online, or contact the Georgia Medicaid provider enrollment line at (800) 766-4456 for assistance.
  4. Complete any required training as part of the onboarding process.
  5. Receive your provider number and begin accepting GAPP referrals.

Important Considerations

Keep in mind that GAPP members lose coverage at age 21. Agencies should plan ahead for care transitions when clients approach this age threshold and connect families with appropriate adult waiver programs.

Additionally, GAPP reimbursement rates are set by Georgia Medicaid and may differ from other home care programs. Review the current fee schedule before building your service plans.
